Want a new Truck.

I'm looking to buy a used 2005-2008 truck that can haul my 23 foot aft cabin. I'm looking at the diesel Ford 250, Dodge Ram 2500, and Silverado 2500. These trucks are cheap right now .

They can all pull up to about 15,000 # which is plenty if I decide to upgrade later (and I will ). I know diesel is expensive right now but I'll use it for my wifes biz too.

What are some of the PROS and CONS I should know about before going out there?

They are all tried and true house pullers. Anyone of these should pull your current load as well as any future loads without an issue. Since the fuel went up I can't belive the low prices of the trucks if you can afford the fuel. Here in upstate NY the diesel fuel is $4.40 per gallon while gas is at $3.50 per gallon.

I have a Ram with 5.9 diesel, 6-speed manual.

Pros:
Great fuel milage 23-25mpg empty, 14-16 towing 26' boat.
Motor life expectancy is much longer than a gasser.

Cons:
Fill ups are a killer to the wallet, ouch!!!

Autotrader.com has 90% of the listings for Ford F250 when searching for any of the 25x series trucks. Why do you think that is?

All 3 are great trucks, Ford, Chevy, or Dodge. Trannies seem to be an issue with mostly all of them, even heard rumors of Allison trannies in the GMs taking dives.

All 3 are good. I like my '07 Ram with the 6.7L. and automatic 6 speed.
Last fill up was a 594 mile jaunt and 24 gallon to fill.
Towing a 31' camper and some city driving.
I'll take 25MPG any day and have something I can pull with when I need to.

All three are good trucks. I have an F250 with the V10 gas engine. I get just less than 12MPG highway mileage when towing my 2500 pound boat.
