Hello,
I have a question. I want to add more exterior 110 volt electrical receptacles on my double-wide mobile home that has vinyl siding on it. Currently I only have one that is on the back side of the home and I am in dire need to add two to the front side and add one more to the back side of the home. What I want to do is add the recessed surface mounted ones like the one that is already installed onto the vinyl siding. What is the easiest, safest, and cheapest way to do this?

First (after turning off power) pull out your one outside receptacle and check number of wires coming into box...if there is only one it is fairly simple to daisy chain from that to the new ones. You will have to cut 2x4 holes in the usb under the siding. Make sure that you cut between studs. After holes are cut pull 12-3 romex from original receptacle (you will have to remove receptacle and box) to closest new hole, then to the next and next. Buy 4 re-work,snap in boxes, 3 vinyl trim plates,3recptacles and 3 weatherproof covers. The trick will be fishing wires up through the stud space from underneath, you will have to cut some of the cardboard vapor barrier to gain access. Staple the wire to the bottom of the floor joists. Also make sure that your original receptacle is a GFI and that you daisy from the LOAD terminals...not the the LINE terminals.

IF you know someone who is an electrician it would be wise to get him to supervise.

If your home is up on blocks and is skirted it would be easier to mount the outlets on the skirting. You can run the wiring under the house.

http://www.helpuwire.com/

It's my brother's web site. He's a master electrician. It is full of DIY projects and wiring guides, as well as FAQ.

take apart an inside outlet close to where u would want 1 ouside. put ouside outlet behind the existing inside outlet. you only will need an outlet, box , wire nuts and @1 ft. of wire.

This would be easier but he would have to buy 3 GFI receptacles....six of one and six of the other

as long as the first outlet is gfi and wired correctly it will protect the outlets wired from it.

Only if you daisychain...he is looking for the cheapest way out. If he starts at the original GFI he won't have to buy any GFIs

With that many plugs on the outside, and they need to be GFCI protected, I would recommend putting in a GFCI breaker, which is what I did on my Mobile Home..

+1 on the GFCI breaker and standard weatherproof receptacles/boxes/covers on the rest of the line. You can't have more than 1 GFCI on a circuit. It will constantly trip.
