whats up.i want to know can i take out the thermostat on a 1990 mariner magnum

I don't much about your engine (V6, inline etc) but the thermostats are normally at the top of the cylinder head(s). There's a water hose that exits the top of the cylinder head and the stats are right there.. Should be a couple of bolts holding the hose connection on, remove and the stats will come right out with a grommet that is attached to the stat... If you have a V-6 you will have two stats... One on each side.

Why? Do you think they put it in there just for kicks? Do you take them out of your cars?<br /><br />2 things couold happen, depending on your engine. It will always run cold and you won't like it.<br />Or, part of your block won't get cooling water, and damage could result.<br /><br />Yes, on a temporary basis, if your present thermostat is faulty. Then replace it when you can.
