Have seen local dealers with used units for $3900 and mines in better shape. If i sell my 1996 force/mercury 75hp engine should I keep the controls and wiring. I want more power 30mph is not enough. Did see a Honda 4 stroke and Suzuki for sale.

Re: Want to sell my engine

I think the dealer is fishing for a sucker. $3900 is 3 times the going rate on that motor. I would say you'd be lucky to get $1800, and a miracle to get $2500. Even the "99 120hp go for under$3000.

To answer your question, I would sell all controls with the motor, and put in all new with your new motor.

The controls wont werk on the the others, and the controls should go with both the engine you are selling, and the engine you plan to buy.
The price of the controls should be considered part of the deal, as buying them afterwards is an expensive proposition.
This is just what I would do, and is just my opinion.

Its all Mercury controls quicksilver stuff. $1800 come on its most all mercury parts, lower case,cdm,40hours use, tilt, trim, new hooker prop. I am sure finding a nice clean like new engine would be very tough to find in any brand. My local dealer will give $2900 trade in however he only carrys Johnson and Evinrude brands.

Yes and you know I have rebuilt just about everything on this engine. Diaphram kit, carb kit, plugs, water impeller, and soon I will try the new head gasket. She runs great however does not idle the way I want her to. Comp at cold was 107,105,105. Looked up in my clymer manual and it does not give numbers for comp only says must be no more than 15psi per cyl change.

Nadaguides list is 1250-1475 for your motor. What you did to it to keep it running wouldn't add any to the sales price. Sorry, good luck selling it...

I am with rickdb1boat on this one, if you found somebody that will give you $2900 for a Force go for it. I have a 1987 85HP that I will be lucky to get $300-$500 for it.

Another way to look at it is that the dealer is giving you $1400 for your motor plus an additional $1500 off the MSRP of the new motor.
There is nothing wrong with an Evinson :) motor. New motor, warranty, dealer to service it, good deal.
