WANTED: Original 235 HP Carb Information

OK Carb Guys, Here's a question for you:

I have completely rebuilt my 1976 OMC 235 HP (351W) including rebuilding the carb. I wasn't happy with the carb rebuild, even though I used Holley Kit 703-33.

The carb was real beat up, including the plates and some of the linkages. But I did it and have been using it. It works but it is kind of quirky at low rpms, due to the throttle plates condition.

I am resigned to purchase a new or rebuilt ( by Holley ) carb.

I realized once I opened up the engine block, that extensive work had been done to this motor in the past. I am not the original owner and don't know for sure how the unit was "Originally" in 1976.

The carb that I have is LIST 7163. Holley 4bbl , 4160 body, 600 cfm, vacuum secs, elec choke.

When I dive into the old OMC info and google the heck out of it, I found the following info:

Originally: OMC # 980983 Carb # R6576A, D2JL-9510-E

Now, I think that my 7163 carb must have replaced the "original" 6576.

Does anyone know how or where to find the specs for the original 6576? Info such as Jet size, Power Valve, CFM etc.

I am not interested in extreme performance, but want to get the most dependable config that I can.

Hi,

Thanks for real quick answer.

I cannot open that BRP link, it keeps coming up with an error message, but while searching more I found power valve and jet info.

I just cannot find CFM info. Still hunting.

All Holley marine 4160's were either 500 or 600 cfm. The cfm, that would have come with your factory 351w, would have been 600. For all that information, call Holley Tech. They can give you info on a list number's that you'll never be able to find on the net.
