I had two trailer related needs I wanted to address: 1) I find my boat/trailer too heavy to maneuver around my driveway by hand, even using a caddy; and 2) The coupling on my trailer was rusty and I wanted to replace it. I called etrailer.
I ordered a Trailer Valet which will be drop shipped to me next month (manufacturer's backorder). That took care of problem #1 and also qualified me for free shipping because of the dollar amount. Next, I looked at a coupling repair kit and asked if it would work with my trailer. It seemed like it would but the weight spec was only 2000 lbs instead of 3500 lbs. The woman didn't know but put me on hold while she called Fulton to ask them directly. She came back on and told me they said it would not fit and that they no longer manufactured a repair kit for that coupling. They did still make the coupling itself though... and it was only about $20. That particular coupling can be either bolted or welded on. On my trailer it was welded on so I couldn't just swap them out unless I cut the first one off. I really didn't want to do that.
Then I got the bright idea of using a new coupling just for parts. Etrailer had the coupling in stock and she sent it to me with free shipping Wednesday. It arrived Friday and I swapped the parts out. Et voila; the coupling looks good as new and I'm a happy camper.
I was delighted with the service I got... not everybody would have made the initial effort to see that I didn't buy something that wasn't going to work. Then they were as good as their word in getting it out the door in a hurry. Good folks deserve being recognized.
