Re: Warm or cold Cooling?

Read your post the answer is right in it ;)

you said SEAWATER PUMP.......SEA WATER............COLD WATER cooled!

Ok 260 Hp. SO what outdrive? ALPHA ONE? If so then there is NO pump in that drive since the pump is mounted on the engine.

If BRAVO ONE there is NO pump in these drives and only the motor mounted SEA WATER pump mounted on the engine block.

key word here is SEA WATER!

Re: Warm or cold Cooling?

I would suggest you find a Mercruiser dealer and order manual #31 for your engine. You have the dry-joint exhaust system and the difference between warm and cold is kind of hard to understand without the diagrams. Trust me, a SEA WATER = COLD WATER cooled is NOT how it's determined.
It's going to take the diagrams in the manual for you to fully understand it.
After trying to figure out a way to explain warm and cold, I ran into something that may be part of your overheat problem.
What type engine drain system do you have? 3Point, Air drain, 7 point????

Not if he has a Bravo drive. And with an MPI, I would bet he has a Bravo.

Re: Warm or cold Cooling?

Im not sure of the diff between the 3 and seven point drains. Its not air and It has 2 blue seawater pump plugs, one in the thermostat housing and 1 in the distribution at the bottom..I believe thats 3 points? As for the warm and cold I have the # 31 manual and after posting the Question I thumbed through the book and according to the book its a warm cooling...Anything over OM615000 is warm it appears, mine is OM624941...And it is a Bravo 3 outdrive. The book is very indepth and Now im glad I have it. Hey DON S..You stated you may have another Idea on the overheating???
