I have a 1996 mercury 30 hp. out board. Last sunday when I turn the key to start the beaper started and it won't stop. The motor is pumping a good stream of water, and it is not over heating.
The oil tank is over half full, when i start the motor I get oil smoke so I think it is mixing oil. I am open for sugestions, that buzzer is driving me crazy, I don't want to damage the motor.

krensel

Re: warning buzzer

What's the beeper sound like? Is it one steady beep or intermittent beeps? Don't run the motor when the horn is sounding! Find out why before you run it again. There could be a problem with the oil system, and this problem could cost you your motor! Good luck and let us know>
CU

the buzzer is on steady as soon as you turn the key to start the motor.

Re: warning buzzer

Your right that is the over heat horn. More than likely you have the wire going to the horn sensor grounding out somewhere. I would check this first. Good luck.
CU
