I have a 2005 5.0 merc i/o Question, Im I right? . . . when you turn the start key to on do you hear the "warning horn" beep which is a test of its working condition? I dont get a beep, Ive tested the beeper and it works, check all the wiring back to the motor and it looks good. Anybody know of a way to test the ECM pin #9 to know if its working right.

It's all in the service manual... go to the Adult Only Section at the top of this forum and down load the correct manual. In section 4D are the test procedures. Here's a excerpt for the buzzer:

Buzzer
TESTING
1. Turn key to RUN position (engine off).
2. Buzzer should sound briefly.
3. If horn does not sound:
a. Disconnect TAN/BLU wire at buzzer and touch it to a known good ground (?).
b. If horn sounds, problem is in TAN/BLUE wire back to engine or switches on engine.

Hold on there Zackman, I think he has EFI.

donaldm, might want to post your SN. You post nothing that says carbed or EFi, and Mecruiser doesn't list anything by year of your boat. And the year of your engine may be different than the year of your boat.
