1994 J200s: My horn beeps after about 5-10 minutes of running. I have a good strong telltale and it does not seem that the engine is running hot. So what are the outputs that can make the horn sound? I know the temp. sensors in the back of the heads and the level switch in the VRO tank. But it seems that there is something else that can sound the horn. I don't have the schematics, so hard to know. There is a small electric vacuum or pressure switch T-eed inline with the main fuel line. Does anyone know what this switch does?

I presently have the VRO lines plugged to burn through the premix gas that was in the tanks for my older engines. Could this be causing the horn. I do have the tan wire disconnected.

Thanks for the great help as always guys. Does any have a 'pdf' of the wiring for this engine?

Hi CB....

The alarms you refer to are:

Overheat...continuous tone.
Fuel restriction....Continuous tone.
Low oil in reservoir...1/2 sec. tone every 20sec's.
Low oil flow or no oil flow to VRO pump...urgent 1/2sec tone every 1/2sec.

Which tone is it? Let know and maybe we can help. Thanks!

Hi OBJ,

Thanks for your insight. It is the 1/2 second every 1/2 second one. Again, my VRO oil line is plugged off temporarily. Does that tell you any more?

Any time the VRO is plugged out of service the VRO alarm harness needs to be unplugged at the amphenol connector. The tan wire that you stated in your first post that you disconnected, this wasn't from the temp sensor I hope. You can trace the VRO wire harness from VRO pump to its connector. This will need to be unplugged to disarm the VRO alarms.

Is the amphenol the small unit mounted in the VRO pump bracket? Is it the peice with the small hose teed off to the main fuel line?
Also, I'm assuming that I can use the pump again once I've burned through my 75ish gallons of premix? It won't be damaged by running wothout oil for a bit will it? Thanks for your great help.

The amphenol plug that I refered to is simply an electrical connector that the VRO wires lead to.It is black in color .VRO pump should still work fine when put back in service.

When placed back in service make sure that the oil line is reprimed all the way to the oil inlet to VRO pump and you mix 100:1 in fuel tank until you can visually verify oil use from oil reservoir.
