warning horn

1987 johnson 70 hp when i run the tilt and trim up and down .every once in a while i hear the horn .just a slight beep ..what do u think it is a short .any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I think you're probably on the right track dakotarmx.When the wire harness bends it may be momentarily grounding out a cracked or chaffed temp sensor wire.Try disconnecting the tan temp sensor lead from the engine and see if the symptom goes away.The overtemp switch is located at the top of the head cover above the top sprkplug lead.If so,you've found your problem.Replace the wiring and test.
