I have a 86 johnson 150 J150TLCDC. VRO has been disconnected/ blocked off. I have been running 50:1 mix for a couple of years. Now all of the sudden I am getting an intermittent warning. It started after about 10 hours on the lake. I turn the boat off and it stops. start it back up and it good for a few hundred yards of Idle. I am on a no wake lake. I did put it in neutral and rev it and the warning tone turned solid like overheat but its spraying a great stream of water and doesn't feel overly hot. I put it back in gear and it starts intermittent again. Next time out if it happens I am goiing to pump the bulb and also disconnect the terminal to the vro / fuel pump connector and see if it stops. Any other ideas. Seems to run the same as always.
Thanks in advance!!

Re: Warning tone intermittant every second

"disconnect the terminal to the vro / fuel pump connector" this should have been done when the oil line was blocked off.

this is what should have been done:

VRO still working.

To convert a still working VRO, disconnect the wiring harness to the VRO pump, also the harness to the oil tank.
You actually remove oil tank for more storage.

Now cut the oil line about 1 ? inchs from motor. Plug the oil line. I use a bolt and hose clamp.

Premix your fuel 50:1 TC-W3 outboard oil.

Disconnect fuel line to top carb, pump primer bulb, until you get mixed gas out of carb line. The gas will change color.

Connect carb line, go boating.

If the above was done, test the sensors.
