Doh!! I guess it's finally hit me.

I was in the process of making coffee this morning when error #1 hit. I was just about to pour the ground coffee into the coffee maker when I barely realized in time that I forgot to put the coffee filter in. Whooo, dodged a mistake there.

I then added the water and walked away to turn on the computer in the "office". I return to the kitchen several minutes later and discover error #2. I had forgotten to place the coffee pot under the "dripper". Coffee was all over the counter and dripping onto the floor.

Lock me up people, I am officially stupid and senile

Lucky me, my wife sets up the coffee maker and sets the timer so I don't have to fool with it :D I fix things, I don't operate them :D

I went to bed about 11:00 PM. No alcohol or "drugs" involved. If I had a hangover I could rationalize what happened.

I go into the garage sometimes on a mission and completely forget what I went for when I arrive. Usually because I had my mind on the next project on the walk to the garage.

Re: Was I coming in the door or was I heading out?

An older i-Boats couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen.
The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, "Last night we went out to a new restaurant, and it was really great. I would recommend it very highly."
The other man said, "What's the name of the restaurant?"
The first man knits his brow in obvious concentration, and finally said to
his companion, "Aahh, What is the name of that red flower you give to someone you love?
His friends replies, "A Carnation??"
"No. No. The other one" the man says.
His friend offers another suggestion, "The Poppy?"
"Nahhhh, growls the man. You know the one that is red and has thorns."
His friend said, "Do you mean a rose?"
"Yes, Yes that's it. Thank you!" the first man says.
He then turns toward the kitchen and yells,
"Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?"

LMAO....Tyme, while I'm not old and senile I too have had those kinds of mornings. Was not too long ago I shared your exact same experience. Coffee all over the floor and counter, unfortunately I did not go check on the pot until it had time to brew all 12 cups..., needless to say I skipped the coffee that morning...:D Hope your day gets better...

If you are like me you may need a cup of coffee BEFORE you try to make a cup of coffee.

Ditto!, as I forget to put the coffee in the coffee filter and come back to a carafe full of hot water!

Sometimes I am fortunate though. I always make a pot and pour it into my trusty old Thermos. Often times there is a little lukewarm coffee still in it the next morning. Not exactly gourmet stuff but certainly good enough to get me headed in the right direction.:)

Re: Was I coming in the door or was I heading out?

I always set up the coffee the evening before. . .2000 hours exactly. Alarm bell notifies me it is time to set up the coffee. I have a written checklist:

1. Fill reservoir with fresh cold water.
2. Dump last night's filter.
3. Install fresh filter (One only. Two make a big mess).
4. 3 scoops of coffee in the new filter.
5. Check that brew time is still set at 0500 hours.
6. Push delayed brew button until little red light comes on.
7. Make sure carafe is set directly under filter drain.
8. Set alarm for 2000 hours tomorrow evening.

Need other alarms and checklists to tell me what medicine to take, when, time to measure glucose, time for insulin and how much, etc., etc.

Well, got the coffee covered. That is the most important thing. :)

I forgot to put the water in mine this morning.

Made another pot after supper this evening. Reached up in the cabinet and grabbed a glass. Filled the glass half way with coffee when I realized my error.

Even though my coffee is ready for me each morning, I still get confused why I filled my cup with sugar instead of the one spoonful?

My gosh! I've got to find some anti-aging stuff now. Y'all sound terrible, I don't wanna turn out like that. :D:D I do have dohh coffee related moments. Once, I was running late one morning with only a few hours of sleep. I took a spoonful of instant coffee and stuck it in my mouth. I only got half of it and spitted out the rest. It did woke me up though. Another time, I set up the coffee maker perfectly but forgot to push the brew button when I walked away. No coffee that morning until I got to work.

Re: Was I coming in the door or was I heading out?

Weekdays I make one mug of coffee. One spoonful of grounds in the filter for one cup.

Weekends I make a pot. 4-5 spoons of coffee.

Or at least that is the intent.

Ask me how many times I've poured slightly coloured water into my coffee mug weekend mornings.

Go ahead. Ask me.

I often end up in the closet in our bedroom with no clue as to why I am there. I did figure it out though. That's the farthest I can walk inside the house without running into a dead end . . .
