bought a new to me boat the beginning of April, the guy I bought it from had some work done on it the first of March. One of which was a new wash down pump. Since then I have went through 2 switches, I think they might be getting hot (?) but when I try to click the switch on it is springy or sponge , will not click, just looking for some possible suggestions as I am not real savvy in this area. Thanks

What is the rated amperage of the switch ? What is the amperage of the pump ? Is the wiring itself the correct gauge for the pump ,usually if the wiring is under sized the wiring or switch will get hot. How about your fuse ? Why has that not blown before anything happens to the pump or switch ? Find the model and make of pump if you do not have info ,then Google it or go to the mfgs website for specs.

Are you talking about the on-off power switch or the pressure switch in the pump?

If it’s the pressure switch, your probably running them dry.

You need to make sure the power to the pump is shut off between uses. If left powered, the pump pressure leaks down and turns the pump back on.

They will survive running dry for a bit, I’ve done it a number of times, but sooner or later they will overheat causing problems
