Re: WashingtonDC tell me.
Washington D.C. is an excellent place to visit...Metro rail system, free museums, great tourist destination.

Make sure your hotel has a regular shuttle to the Metro stop, no need to rent a car. Fly into Reagan National...take the Metro to the hotel or it's pretty close to everything so a taxi fare will be a reasonable charge. Pentagon City and Chrystal City are two good areas to look in.

Call your representative's office to arrange a tour of the capitol building - they'll send an intern to show you around, it's great. If he can he'll arrange a private tour of the white house for you, all free of charge.

Air & Space is my favorite, American History a close second. Holocaust Museum is
very intense, probably not a great honeymoon experience but don't miss it unless you think you'll have another chance at it in the future.

Stay in the capitol/national mall area, you'll be safe.

Dress warmly...but hey it's far better in the cold than the heat & humidity, IMO.

congrats! and have fun! oh, and say hello to GW for me.
