Is anyone aware of a non-petroleum product that you can spray in the eaves to keep those critters from hanging their nests there? Typical wasp sprays are effective for a season but I do not want to spray petroleum based products on my latex paint job.

I'm tired of knocking off the nests. They have a pretty sticky glue they hang them with.

I use a hang-up type product (about 12" long x about 5" wide in a perforated plastic case) I can't recall the name of them, but several different companies make them, and they're avaliable at any hardware store or big-box building supply store.
They seem to work great in enclosed spaces. I hang 2 up in the boat B4 she gets shrinkwrapped, and have had no more problems with finding they got in thru the vent intakes, like I used to run into when I'd uncover her in the spring. Have also had good luck with them in smaller sheds and garages. As I'm allergic to yellow jackets, I'm very conscientious about keeping clear of them

Paint underside of eaves sky blue. Also keeps spiders from building webs there.
Sounds stupid, but it works.

That looks like it would melt the crap out of the Vinyl. But it was a funny thought.
