Hi,

I have an old 1976 Mercruiser 140 HP 3.0 and I have to remove the water for winterizing and to remove the oil (because of a broken head gasket there is a water-oil mix which must be removed and replaced by fresh oil).

Where can I find these two screws on the engine?

Thanks for answering,

STOON from Austria

there should be two drains both on the port side of the motor

the manifold drain will be on the bottom center

the block drain should be on the port side near the rear both drains are npt pipe plugs

you should change the oil and at least crank over the motor with the plugs out to get in some clean oil and pump oil in to the cylinders if it sits wet for any time it will rust and require compleat tear down

tommays

Ayah......
And, on a 1976 you'll probably find another water drain on the rear port corner of the Riser......
That's 3 Water drains..... And you Should pull the Big hose off the waterpump to drian that also..........

Oil Drain is on the bottom of the Oil Pan.......

I strongly agree with Tom......
You need to get some Clean Oil through that motor......
