Can anyone tell me why water would be pouring out of the bottom of the flywheel housing. There is actually water coming right out the bottom of the hole that the starter mounts into. The motor is a 120 horse mercruiser.

Do you know where the plug might be? I can not see one anywhere but I will pull the starter and see what if anything I can see

Thanks for the pic tommays. I assume that I have to pull of the housing that mounts on the back of the motor to get to this plug?

if your sure its pouring out there the motor would have to be removed

if it did i would pressure test the motor after the plug is replaced BEFORE going any futher to be sure you have no cracks

tommays

I pulled the starter and that is where it is coming from. There are two other soft plugs on the port side of the block but they are okay.

I agree with Tom. If you're lucky it will be just a popped core plug. Good Luck!

One more question guys. Isnt the soft plug on the outside of the block? This water is pouring across the flywheel and coming out the starter hole. Wouldnt that have to be an internal crack? Also does anyone know where to get a manual for this motor. It is a 120 horse mercruiser.

I'm not real familiar with this engine, but I would think it's hidden under the bell housing/ engine coupler. Manuals you can get at this site, however I don't know if you can get a better deal somewhere else. Get a Merc. manual- don't waste you're time on Clymer's or Sea-Loc........J
