Water Circulation problem?

according to the ramblings articles, I should be able to rest a finger on top of the engine block for a minute without feeling discomfort; I have never been able to do this, but water is spraying out very strong at the exhaust port and the engine idles down and runs good. I can keep a finger on top for about 10 seconds, then it gets hot. It does not burn any of the paint or if i put water on top it doesnt sizzle away;
is that just the way this year of motor should be at?

thanks

My rule of thumb is you should be able to keep your finger on the head for a count of three. (One mississippi, two mississippi, three mississippi.) :cool:

An IR thermometer gun is good investent. Get one at Harbor Freight for around $30.

all right, should be good then! he (schafer) must be referring to the newer motors as for leaving your finger on for a minute

Seconds is the method of measure, I really don't advise anyone to leave their hand on the head of any internal combustion engine for a minute.

Thermometer is the best way to go.People all react to hot and cold differently.Say a cook probably touch that motor far beyond the time it takes me to burn out.A

I was referring to the difference between seconds or minutes, obviously using the proper tool is the best method.

Get the Harbor Freight IR thermometer and it takes all the guess work out of it. I've got two different types of them and I even use them around the house. Good to have.

They're (the HF IR therms) are on sale right now for $39.98, ftr. A minute is a long time; at least it would be for me.
