Its a 1999 Johnson 200 and with the muffs on I noticed water running out where the lower unit bolts up to the mid-section. On my 225 no water comes out of there and the mounting surfaces are flush. On this motor the ends are flush but in the middle on both sides there is a little gap and that where the water is seeping. Is that an issue? Thanks for any advice

On the muffs you are putting pressure on the cooling system that really isn't meant to be there. It doesn't hurt the motor but does cause water to go places it normally wouldn't.

Nothing wrong, run it. you won't see it when it's in the water.

The Johnny's of that vintage have cast in slots to allow water to exit at that spot.
