Water flow on 130 Johnson

I own a 97 130hp Johnson and have some doubts about the water pump. While water does flow out, it is substantially less that what I was used to seeing from my old outboard (85 70hp Evinrude). Is this something common. A buddy of mine told me that it was. Just wanted to get another opinion.

The discharge will look different because its two completely different systems.

Whats the water pressure gauge read?

Hi Red,

As noted by Dhadley, a water pressure test should resolve any doubts you have.

In my own experience, my '81 Merc 70 would "jet" water out such that the stream would land several feet behind the motor.

My '86 Evinrude 140 looper sort of looks like the water is coming out of the engine on a gravity feed. Meaning it looks like it isn't being "forced" out of the engine. Just sort of flowing out.

Cheers,

Brew
