water from pee hole not even warm...

Hi guys, so my outboard seems to run good, just had it checked by a pro he said it is cooling, my only issue is a warning buzzer coming on and going away when i turn the key slight back, so we went on a long run, it ran like a champ.

The water coming out of the pee hole was only slighly warm, maybe even just warmer than the ocean temp.

Should this water be warm or hot if its cooling the motor good ? Or maybe its just nice and cool and doesn't need to warm the water so much ? After I shut it down a few minutes and checked the head it wasn't hot to the touch and no sea water bubbled on it.

Just trying to get the kinks out and learn how to take care of an old motor, so thanks for you help so far so good everyone !

The water from the tell-tale is bled off before it goes through the powerhead, so yes it will be sea-water temperature. You should not ignore that warning buzzer. It is trying to tell you something, OR a defect is causing false alarms. Even if it is a false alarm, it is not going to do the job when a real problem occurs.

I just went to a trusted Johnson mechnic, he did find a cut sensor wire that when it touched a bold it would sound an alarm, so we though it was that. I think now it is a wire that sounds the alarm when you 1st turn the key to remind you the sensor works, as the mechanic checked, it is not overheating, the sound is in the johnson control, I will open it up but I bet a wire is touching in there. The sound goes away when i turn the key ever so slightly back away from on but it is still on "on" the batteries are still charging and the motor running.

I just need a bit of fishing time this year with it but still hunting for what or why it might be doing that.
