trouble getting the water hose connected at the stern fitting on my mc 165 in a '73 boat. following manual and this is next step, got started but difficult to push it on to fitting. tried vasoline and hair dryer heat and clamp 4"s from end to push on with long tool. Have just installed driveshaft bellows and bellhousing is still loose so I can move it some. will take a breather and try again. then putting up tools and going sailing, 65 and windy.

Ayuh,... Doesn't that fitting come out of the transom plate, like the Alpha 1s,..??

If not,... good Luck, 'n try the dishsoap....

Also make sure you have the pitch of the hose right, so's it don't kink when turned/ trimmed to the extremes...

got the water hose on. took it off at bottom, installed top or stern fitting and then the bottom or bellhousing fitting. now to the infamous exhaust bellows.

Re: Water hose to gimbal housing

had trouble getting new lower shift cable thru the bellows until i removed the bellows from the gimbal housing, then i could force it thru the hole in the bellows. will use a 1/4 drive universal on a 5/16 socket to tighten the cable bellows clamp. the kit supplied a cable tie for the small end of the bellows but it fits so tight on there that no water will ever go in. I will put the tie on anyway. the exhaust bellows wasn't bad as expected. i was able to push it on the bellhousing with my fingers and tighten the clamp ok. enough for today! manual only does so much and from there it requires thinking.
