I have a 1996 Johnson 50hp tiller on my Lund and decided to replace the impeller prior to my Canada trip. 1st impeller replacement ever and what a peice of cake! Took it apart last night then replaced impeller and reassembled this morning. After assembly I filled up a rubbermaid with water and before the tote ran over with water it was up to the cavitation plate. Started it up ran it for about 15 20 seconds NO pee!?! So I shut it off got the muffs out and it pee'd great. Did the Rubbermaid thing again n no pee! I thought for sure the water level was high enough so back to the muffs...and presto pee'd great. So at this time I was like WTH??? So I ran it up to the lake quick started it up and pee'd great. Moral of the story don't trust the tub of water thing unless u already know it will work with your setup! :)

Re: Water impeller replacement discovery

Water needs to be way deeper than your bucket. Try a trash can next time. Water must be about half way up the leg.
