I have the top of the drive pulled. my bellows had a little water in it. oil was a little milky but not bad. the bearings I can see after pulling the top of the drive look good. the drive shaft I can see sticking out of the bell housing looks alright and has no play. I plan on changing out the u joints. its an 85 aq290 with 290 drive single prop. will Spicer 5-1306X u joints or another easy to find ujoint work?
also wondering what the bearings are called inside the bell housing and if they are a marine only bearing. what seals would need to be changed in there?
I have the whole kit to do the drive seals so I suspect I should have everything for the drive but not 100percent.
I live in Canada and cant access the Volvo penta parts website so its hard to track down what I need.
I have an engine on order so the motor will be out. any other seals, bearings or other parts that should be looked at while the engine is out?
its my first time pulling a motor or doing any work on an outdrive so any tips, tricks or advice is very welcome.

Pressure test the drive, I am positive you need an upper seal. Since the lower has just as many hours on it may as well do that seal too.
DO NOT fool around with drive bearings, they must be properly shimmed and preloaded. I suggest taking it to a Volvo tech for a reseal.

Woops, I re read, you are talking about the bellhousing gimbal bearing. Yea its a Volvo part. The U joints can be spicer, or whatever is properly matched. They don't have to be Volvo.
