I have an early 80s blueband mercury 140hp, two stroke, straight six, powerhead. I am getting water in pots #4 and #6 only. Have replaced the water jacket seals twice now with no success.
Any ideas please :(

What do you mean by 'water jacket seals'?

Those engine have a small water jacket cover, inside the exhaust chamber, that needs to be resealed properly (by the Merc bible). The screws are epoxied in and are really hard to remove, most of them break , and have to be drilled and the holes re-threaded (usually with Heli-coils).

Did you replace the crankshaft seals (1 in the top cap and 2 in the bottom) at the same time?

Sorry, my mechanic replaced the parts. yes inside the exhaust chamber, he showed me them apart. I dont know if he did the crankshaft seals though, that wouldn't have a leak in two pots only though ??
