Water in bildge only at higher RPMs

Hello,

I have noticed that at the beginning of the day when I check my engine fluids the bildge has no water and everything seems good. If I just idle around for the day there doesn't seem to be any water added to the bildge. However, if I have run the boat on plane for a while and turn on the bildge pump there is alot of water that comes out.

We have a 1988 Welcraft Antigua 265 cabin cruiser with a 7.4L Bravo 1. I have actually looked in the engine compartment while underway and cannot find the source of the water. It's a lot of fun riding beside a wide open 7.4L in cramped conditions and waves to boot. Yee Ha.

Anyway any ideas or what I should be looking for.
Thanks,
Deev.

Re: Water in bildge only at higher RPMs

hello
check all the bellows. shift cable and drive. then check the exhaust ypipe for leaks while running check anyting down stream of the seawater pump. if the engine/drive mechanicals are good start checking thru-hulls. I just repowered a 86 33ft will crack and found 2 cheesy factory plastic fittings that were bad. one was cracked and the one for tyhe sink drain was broken off just inside the hull. everytime he hit a wave it had an 1 1/4 hole under water.
I fond a cracked plastic valve on a 2003 whaler today while looking at a fuel problem so its not just wellcraft that uses cheepie stuff. plastic thru-hulls on boats lager than 16 ft should be against the law :) :) .
good luck and keep posting.

Thank you Rodbolt.

I have just replaced a few of the thru-huls above the water line and didn't know there was anything other than plastic. I will try and find the other type and use them from now on.

I will also look again with a focus on the areas you have pointed out.

As far as the Will Crack, (had to read that one a couple times to get it) I was going to post another topic on that one. I have been makeing repairs and just keeping up with the cracks.

Deev.
