There are a ton of videos on YouTube that go through bellows replacement step by step. I'd watch about 5 of them if I were you. They all have little tips/tricks/mistakes that will make the process easier for you.

there are tips and videos right here in the stickies at the top of the forum that have correct info in it, not like youtube.

the best vids were made by one of our forum members, links can be found in the stickies.

merls bait shop how do you know your transom is fine? it is a 31 year old boat that is about 16 years past its design life.

Gotta ask, where is that information coming from?

At the Marina i'm at, I'd have to say 95% of the boats are 15 years or older. I just cannot see how that could be a statement from any boat designer.

Give yourself plenty of time. Don't be in a rush. Its a pain to do and rushing it will make you do it over.

I would recommend changing the gimbel bearing and shift cable while you are in there. Maybe your trim limit and sender sensors depending on the condition. When I did mine I planned on all of that except the shift cable but that made its own mind up. I had to pay for fast shipping to get the part.

I would also recommend putting one side of the bellows on and letting adhesive set. Then the other. I fought with one side slipping off but also read after to use little adhesive, too much will let it slip. I wasn't a fan on the bellow adhesive in the first place. If I did it again I will use something else but not sure what yet.

If you put the hose clamp on when the adhesive is wet it will do what he's saying here.

When I do them, I do one side at a time, like he's saying, but just lightly secure the hose clamp and wait till the next day for it to cure..THEN tighten the clamp.

The design life is 15 years for a fiberglass boat in the sub 25' range, slightly longer (about 20 years) for boats to 50'

while many boats make it past their design life, just as many die prior.

has nothing to do with the designer. it has to do with the viability of a company to sustain itself. just like the design life of the average automobile is 7 years or 180,000 miles (300,000 KM's)

its so you keep buying them and the company keeps making them. that is also why a lightbulb has a finite life..... look up phoebus cartel

Uhh...what? YOU wrote that..There are no facts from any boat manufacturer in it to use as solid evidence in these design claims you are selling as facts.

No offence but your quote on this has nothing to do with anything but your opinion on economy, consumer treatment of the product in question and has nothing to do with manufacturing of any boat companies .

Sorry but your opinion is just that...your opinin..and you are entitled to it.

I however, I think such a claim is false information.
