You need to confirm ignition on that cylinder. If you have no spark on that cyinder it probably has unburned fuel in that cylinder and is misting fuel with that plug out. Confirm spark and determine if it is water or fuel

Check the suspect cylinder's plug. Water in the cylinder causes the plug to look like new, very white and clean.

The easiest way that I know of to check spark plugs for spark is to put a couple of aligator clips on a wire (or buy one from Radio Shack) - with the plug out (and the engine conected to a water hose) and connected to your plug wire hook one aligator clip end of the wire to the ground finger of the spark plug - then hook the other aligator clip end of the wire to an engine bolt or something metalic that is ground and have some on turn the engine over (unhook the other plugs so that the engine does not start) - watch the spark plug for a blue spark - if it is yellow it could be too weak to fire under pressure - if you are not sure take the plug out and stick a phillips screw driver into the plug wire and hold it close to the engine - as it is being cranked over pull the screw driver away from the engine to see how far the spark will jump - it should jump at at least a 1/4". I hope this helps in your testing. ;)

i did a compression check again and the cylinder with moisture in it as very low compression,a outboard mech here says it is a blown head gasket he said 40.00 for gasket 35.00 for labour(canadian dollars)does this seem right or could there be something else wrong, i'm thinking he just wants me to bring it in and then he will say something else(big bucks)
