Long Story Short! I shut my engine (454CI carburated) down from about 2500 RPM's in neutral. Big mistake. It "dieseled" on me and sucked water back into the cylinders. I just thought I had a loose connection on the battery and tightened them up and tried to start it. I was able to turn the engine over (not good). So far, I have drained and replaced the oil and filter and it had water in it. I took the plugs out and rolled the engine over and water came out of #3 and #4 cylinder. I then replaced the spark plugs and started the motor. I ran it at idle for about 20 minutes and it seemed to run fine and the oil level did not get higher with more water. My plans are to replace the oil at least one more time and then take the boat out and tun it at higher RPM's. Is there anything else I should do or look for? Can I be lucky enough that no other internal damage was done? ANy advice will be appreciated.

your probably ok, just dont thrash the motor... have someone drive the boat while you listen to the engine..if it sounds funky shut it off and get out the wallet

You have valves in your exhaust manis that help prevent this instance.I,dd make sure they are intact.
