Water in cylinders (rusted) help!!

1994 Regal 202 SE 4.3LX,
Last season I was cruising @ 25mph and boat just shut off. I tried to restart the motor and heard a big clunk in the rear. I had been having problems with the foot oil resevoir over pressuring and coming out of the relif in the resevoir cap. I changed the foot oil to look for water and found none. This problem only occured when running wot and trimmed all the way up. So any way I figured the foot had locked up. Well I was right about the foot, the yoke had busted in the lower unit, but when I removed the foot I also found 1 1/2 pieces of oval shaped metal flaps with rubber around the edges. I was not sure what they were until I looked in the exhaust pipes coming out of the motor and found the other half.
My questions are: 1. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to free the motor up (since it has been sitting since last year with water in the cylinders) and is filled with rust.
2. How often do these flappers fail?
3. Do I need to check these on my 1996 Chaparral?
4. Will the motor ever be right, and what else could go wrong?
5. What is anyone's opinion on the collinite wax products?

Thanks in advance :(

Was you in salt water when this happened? If so, you need a new engine. You only have hours to get the water out of the cylinders, not days.

Fresh water, this happened last summer, checked oil level in motor when happened and was good with no water, but never dreamed of water getting in cylinders.

Thanks,

You need to take out the spark plugs, put a couple ounces of either Marvel Mystery oil, or Automatic Transmission fluid, in the cylinders NOW! put the spark plugs back in loose, and hope your engine is not toast! Give it a day or so to soak in, then unscrew the spark plugs, and Next you hafta keep trying to free it up at least once a day for a few wks, putting the spark plugs back in, only while soaking, letting it all soak in, in between.

Ayuh,....

Sitting since Last Summer,.... That motor just might be an Anchor by now....

2),.. Flappers will Fail, Anytime there's no water flow thru the exhaust,...
They Fry rather Quickly...

3),.. See #2...

4),.. It might free up, though I have my Doubts,.. Or it might be possible to have it bored,+ Rebuilt,... Does it Freeze where you live,..??

5),.. Never heard of it...

Even if you do free the engine up and get it to turn, the rust in the cylinders will eat the rings in short order. Why go thru the motions just to tear it up more. The cylinders might clean up by honing but bet they will have to be bored. But is the boat even worth replacing the outdrive and having the engine rebuilt?

Re: Water in cylinders (rusted) help!!

Just an update: A mechanic friend of mine freed the motor up and honed the cylinders and cylinder heads and boat fired right up. Not saying I may not have issues later, but for now it looks promising. Boat is also faster than before, with same set-up. Thanks for all the replies................

I'm curious what else he did with the bore. I mean did he change anything else?

It has to be faster its not the same hp anymore.
