water in DP lower unit

After running the boat for about 5hrs then checking the oil level, I found water. I drained it and the first liquid that came out was pure water about 1/2 a cup worth, then came the "milk". I did find an "extra" o-ring on the drain plug and it was in pretty bad shape. There is only one o-ring on the plug right? If there is only one, I don't have a clue where this o-ring came from.

If the water isn't coming in from the plug I'm at a loss. The boat was winterized (drained and new oil).
Thanks for any help.

The best thing to do is pull the drive, make sure there is no water in the bellows. Then with the drive oil drained, pressure check the drive and make sure there are no other leaks.
Yes, only one oring on the drain plug.

Thanks Don.

I did a pressure check and there seems to be a leak. So took it to the shop.

Oil was drained last fall it was fine and only ran it five hours this year. I'm hoping it's just a gasket issue.

Thanks again and happy boating.
