alright...so i'm having to pull the outdrive off of the 1992 bayliner capri 2050 this afternoon. I am preparing to pull the 5.0L Mercruiser out of the boat to extract a broken starter bolt and to look the motor over real good. I pull the Alpha Gen II drive off and this is what I find. The motor I am ok with with but everything after that I havent a clue as to what is really going on. Should there be water here, do these seals look normal or is it time to replace, what all is suggested and where can I find it if it does need replacing.

Looks like you are going to be learning the fine art of bellows replacement. Along with input shaft seal and possibly yoke replacement, ujoints and gimbal bearing replacement, alignment, and hopefully impeller and shift cable replacement since the engine is out. And what about the trim limit switch and gauge sender? Do they work? What condition is the steering in where the gimbal ring attaches to the shaft at the top. Is it loose? With the engine out, now it the time.
