2012 Mercury Varado 150 This makes me sick to my stomach !
Oil level is up one inch . Was between hatch marks on dip stick the week before.
It is now like a thick vanilla milk shake. Engine runs perfect .
What is the trouble shooting tree ,on what to do first or look at first .

I feel your pain. And I feel for you with 21 reviews and no responses.
Can you provide serial number?
I don't know the engine but you have to consider the gaskets that separate the water path from the oil path.
What's a compression test say?

Try posting up at the hull truth there are a lot of outboard pros there.
I would:
Check for water in cyls and do a compression test. Usually with OBs it’s eroded sealing surfaces between the block & cyl head, or a small hole rotted in the head or block. Might just be a head gasket though.
