Finally made it out the lake last week to try out my 30 HP 56 Johnson. I did all the pre prep. plugs, points, fresh fuel, and tank test. Did service l/u with fresh lube. Motor ran great, idled fine, no missing. Went out next morning an milky oil running out of prop seal. My question is how readily are the parts, seals, pump impeller, and possibly bearings. O, I do have a manual on this motor, so that is aplus. The reason I ask about finding parts is last time I inquired about just a flywheel key for a mark 25 at my local merc dealer and everyone laughed at me. I had to buy stock and make my on keyway. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Would you belive your local NAPA autoparts has most of what you need from their Marine Catalog? As well as lots of places online. These are their Sierra aftermarket part numbers:
18-2686 L/U Seal kit (all the seals you need)
18-3006 Impeller

For the bearings, most of them are still made by the original bearing makers. The best way to buy them is to go to a local bearing house. The reverse ball bearing is a cheapy (less than $10), and the tapered roller bearings (Timken?) go for around $30 for each set. The 'cone' and 'race' of the bearings are sold seperatly.

Good luck!
