After running on muffs or in water, does all the water from the outdrive empty completely out of it? Its in the down position so its even with the ground and the water can empty out of the drain holes...but from where it sucks up water on each side its full of water below that. I thought that it should all drain out.

When you lower the drive completely this should drain the water from your outdrive. Are you winterizing the boat now? If so there is a lot more to do than just lowering your outdrive. If you are winterizing you need to get the procedure from here. How do you see water in the outdrive from the water intake inlets? I dont recall being able to do that on my alpha one.

I changed all the fluids, did the impeller, checked the ujoints, bellows, gimbal, changed fuel filter, lubed, stabil, etc. Im not winterizing it though because it doesn't really get below 32 here. I usually take the boat out once or twice a month during the winter just to run it.

So with the water sitting in the bottom of the outdrive.. I can see the water sitting right at the level of the water inlets. If I shake the outdrive a little bit you an see the water moving back and forth in there.

Also in another post I wrote about if I leave water in the engine block after running it will leak out from the outdrive.

I have never noticed this stuff before and it might be normal but after doing work to it i haven been keeping a closer eye on it and wonder if there is something wrong. thanks

Ayuh,... The amount of water in that cavity might amount to a ? teaspoon or less,...
It's an open cavity, 'n it can't hurt a thing freezing...

And,...
as I said in your other post,...
Drain the motor when done for the day...
That little bit of water you see runnin' out, Ain't all that's in the motor...
It's only a tiny bit coming from the drive, 'n it's passages...
