Water in my engine block

Had my 1970 Reinell Cuddy in the shop to replace a cracked transom shield and shop notified me that when they pulled the motor there was water in the engine block. The boat has a 350 Chevy and Volvo Penta 280 outdrive. Shop wants $3200 for a new block but I don't have the money to complete this size repair.

Looking for advice on how I might do some of this work on my own since motor is out of the boat. What would be the order of the repair?

You could get a rebuilt long block from Rapido shipped to you for under $2000. He even offers an upgrade for the 350

You sure the block is shot?? Drain the oil and refill then figure out where the water came from.
Might be something simple. That old could be the manifold/risers.J

I have the same engine that had the same problem. It turned out it was the old manifolds. I bought new GLM manifolds for $98 each at ERW in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Good luck.

Re: Water in my engine block

Just picked my engine up at the shop. They had pulled it apart. It did happen to be the manifolds. I will be looking for new manifolds. There is unfortunately damage in the cylindars, you can feel the pitting in two of them with your finger. Can I just have it machined?
