I cleaned out fuel tank this spring and filled up at the local gas station on my way to the marina. No water in the seperator. Filled up at the marina and see some water in the bowl under my racor filter. I'm not buying gas there any more!! Any sugestions how to remove the water. I drain the bowl every trip. Should I worry about the water? Thinking of trying dry gas. I have a 2003 225hp yamaha 4 stroke.

Your water could be from the marina or just a condensation factor that just first appeared after that point. I always buy my gas at regular, busy gas stations and still get a little water every time I drain my Racor bowl. These are built in aluminum tanks and I think tend to get condensation. A couple of years ago, I thought it would do me good to drain the tanks and let them dry out. I did that, but the water appeared again very shortly thereafter.

Now, I don't worry about it. I just drain the Racor regularly and have absolutely no performance problems in spite of the the water. That's the whole idea behind the Racor, no? I would guess that would work for you. If the water is a one time thing, the Racor will take care of it eventually and you should see less and less, maybe zero eventually? I doubt it as there will probably always be a little condensation. In the mean time, if you regularly drain the bowl so it doesn't actually fill up with water and the separator canister, I don't think you'll have any problems.

I allways top off my tank after taking the boat out. If the tank is full you won't allow any condensate to form.
--Hop

I cleaned my tank out this spring, and installed a racor water separator, I have seen no water yet with about three tanks. (30 gal), My tank is plastic, and I think they do not get the condensation that aluminum does.

Dont use dry gas in any marine application. There are much better choices at the marine center.Racor makes a few and there is a very good one but I cant recall the name brand.I think it may be MDR or something like that ,a few letters.Dry gas is nothing more than alcohal.A pretty good additive you can get at an auto store is called X3.
