I was given a boat by a relative and when I cranked it up I saw water in the oil.Upon closer inspection I saw the block was cracked and water was coming oout of the block. If I were to want to fix the engine , what type block is needed for a caravelle OMC 4 cylinder cobra. The engine ran fine so can I pull the block off and bolt up a new block.Any Auto engine blocks that might work? Thanks
for any info.

Re: Water in My oil

I have a shot at a 1974 OMC engine runs good, he says its a 120 HP, not sure about this.I am wondering if I can swap this engine ut for the one in my boat and use the existing cobra outdrive. In case its not posted I have a 1997 3.0 l omc cobra. Please let me know ,his outdrive wont go into gear , so I may be able to get the engine relatively cheap.

Ayuh,... I think the crankshaft bolt pattern is different between those years,...
If so, Nope, it won't work....

Thanks for the response, it turned out he had a merc , instead of a omc. Not sure what the deal is on the stern drive, said it was running fine until his grandson took it out without him! I would consider getting the engine and swap out my omc but then I inherit a inoperable lower unit. Crap!
