Recently discoverd water in my oil. I have a volvo penta 4.3 GL. Iv been doing a lot of reeding hoping to find my problem. So what iv done to pressure test is take both lines off the exhaust manifolds and plugged them. Then took the 1 1/4 water line off the pump attached a Gauge and pressured it to 20psi. The gauge didn't move for 2 hours. So I'm assuming that's good. Them someone told me to check the exhaust manifolds. So I took them off and took the risers off. Added acetone to the cooling ports and did not notice any leaking.

Now I need help. Can it be coming from somewhere that the pressure test can not show me? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

So what does the manifold/riser joint look like? How much water is in your oil?

You mean the the riser gaskets? Look fine to me. Nothing really noticeable unless you have to clean them up really good to tell. And as far as how much water not sure. I ran it for about 2 hours one day then pulled the oil that night. When I pulled it some people say you get straight water at the start but mine was a mixture. Just milky oil. Definitely water cause when I pulled the valve covers off to look there's water droplets all over. Not sure how much water if lots would it need to settle for a couple days?

What is your oil level at? Has it gone up considerably? If not, you got a little bit of water that caused it to emulsify which could easily be a bad riser gasket. Look down inside the manifold at the riser connection. Any rust streaks?

Not sure how much is lots but it just come over the add line. I did look inside and nothing noticeable to me. Everything is sooted up and don't see no discolouration. When I took the manifolds off I also took out all spark plugs and I had water trickle out of one. Can this come from the manifolds when motor is shut down?

Ok. I haven't replaced the gasket yet. This is the first time iv takin it apart so I could find the leak. Haven't put anything back together yet Incase it's something a little deeper than the manifolds. If I new it was for sure the manifolds I would replace the gasket and put them back together? Just wish I new for sure they were the problem

Put gaskets in both manifolds and pressure tested them both. Both were rock solid. And still don't think the old gaskets were leakin

Has your bilge ever filled up with water to the level of the crankshaft?
