Hi ! I have a 1986 johnson 110hp last september the boats cover flew off and the boat ended up being flooded. Once the boat was emptied of about two feet off water i ran the boat for a while without trouble until it started to sputter and loose speed it almost died out ! I got back home and noticed that the oil injection tank was a half + half mixure of water and oil. I ended up dumping the oil/water mixure out and clean out the tank and refilled it with new oil. I did burn about 20 gallons of gas before the boat was put away For the summer, it seemed to start and run ok except it lost about 3mph from the top end. Do you think any engine damage was inflicted ? Also what should the compression be on this engine ? It seems to be burning a lot more in the way of gas in the last few years ! Sorry for the lenthy question. Thanks GB..

Re: Water in oil injection tank !

Hey Gary and welcome to iboats!

First thing ta' do is get a compression test on the cylinders. 90+psi is great but a little less is not bad. They also should be within 10 to 15% of each other. It's not good that ya' didn't notice the water in the oil reservoir before ya' took it out. But....get the compression readings first before we do anything else. We need to know if any damage has been done to the cylinders.

Keep us posted.

All reading are close 104/109/111/107. but the boat has lost a good 4 miles per hour . Other than that it seems to run well.
I did notice that the power trim when tilted up to the max on a fast run doesnt seem as tilted as before ? Is their some sort of and adjustment ??

I'll bet your boat gained a little weight too with water trapped in areas that can't drain.
