I have been trying to figure out why I have water in the oil pan of my 2.3L Ford OMC engine. I thought maybe a head gasket, but I pulled all the plugs and there has been no intrusion that I can tell into the cylinders.
Is there another way other than a busted block that water can get in the pan?
Sorry , this is new to me and it's driving me nuts. :( :(
Any and all comments appreceiated.
Thanks!

What color were the plug tips. Pure white is a sign of water intrusion into the cyl.Other places are manifold, riser/s.

The plugs were almost black. Not carboned up , just a little rich I think.

RedRanger, I believe a leaking head gasket can allow water into the oil, without it getting into the combustion chambers. Also, what about a rust hole from the cooling system into the oil passage. On a V-6 or V-8 the intake manifold seperates the oil from the cooling system. If that gasket fails or the manifold rusts away, water can enter the oil.

I doubt it is a rust hole, but I'll check it out. The boat has only been in freshwater and it only has 126 hrs on the motor. Can I use a automotive head gasket? I cringe at the idea of spending 70.00 for a OMC gasket.
Thanks ,
Larry
