I had one marina tr sell me a used 2.5 mercruiser to retro fit in. Does this ,make sense. What other motors vould i run in this boat The stern drive is a omc cobra. I live in Canada and would be running the boat I fresh water. any help would be great. Thanks Stu

Hey guys, thought i would update you on this project. I ended up finding that the head was cracked-freeze damage. removed the head and found a used mustang head. swapped over the cam, replaced the head gasket, swapped over both manifolds, and all other bits and she now runs. No more water mixing in the oil. Took it out on the lake and all is good. Have since replaced the shift cable, (adjusted with the tools) replaced the bellows, greased the u joints and gimble bearing. Have done a second sea trial with family and could not be happier. I am now in the middle of rebuilding the carb. I have over 100 hours into the boat with all the engine and drive work. If you want i have some pics of the head off and of the cracks if anyone is interested. Let me know.
regards Stu.
