Hi,
I recently bought a used 1970 chrysler boat
It has a 1970 Johnson Seahorse 40 HP outboard motor on it.
I wanted to test run it before going out on a lake and don't know where to attached the water to. Can anyone tell me? I don't see any holes except down by the prop.

Thanks Russ

Re: Water intake 1970 40HP Johnson Seahorse

I believe the water intake is on the front of the exhaust snout.with any small to medium motor I would use a large trash barrel right up against the mounting bracket and filled to the brim.A hose handy to maintainm the level.
Many people have used muffs seccessfully however a slight error can resault in a ruined impeller or worse.I have tested my 65 Merc 500 in a barrel many times with no worries.
