How involved is it to change the water jacket on a cylinder? And how whould you go about it?

You mean the water jacket gasket on the cylinder head of the cover gasket on the exhaust chamber?

EIther one I am not sure what I need but there is water coming out around the spark plug in one cylinder and the advice I received before said I made need to change the water jacket or possible the head gasket.

Sounds like a head cover gasket is in need of changing. The jackets themselves just FYI are integrated into the engine block and serve to channel the cooling water.

The water cover plate and gasket on each head is a plate simply bolted over the head covering the water passage. If none (big if, huh?) of the bolts break it should be a real simple task. You dont have to pull the heads but it bay be simpler in the long run.

If you do pull the heads, be sure to replace the water deflectors (small pieces of hose -- 2 on each side) along with the head gaskets.

Good luck!
