What effect will leaking exhaust gaskets at midsection of 1988, 88 hp Johnson, have on motor?

If you know one of the seals/gaskets on the inner exhaust housing is damaged or missing, you should replace it. If on the other hand, you are running on muffs and seeing water shooting out of the joint between the leg and the lower unit, be aware that there is no seal to replace. Turn down the water pressure or flush the motor in a barrel.

A water leak between the engine block and exhaust housing MUST be corrected.-----Other water " leaks " may well be normal.
