Hi, If somebody could help me I'd really appreciate it. I'm stumped.
I bought a new to me but used 1975 Johnson 85 HP V4 (85ESL75E) outboard and went to winterize it using muffs. This is my first time using muffs as I've usually tested in a barrel with my smaller motor but this one is too big for that. Anyway, with the water turned on and the muffs covering the intake ports, I noticed water also flowing out from around my mount bracket on the shaft - (please see the pic). After getting the outboard winterized, I got to think about this and watch various videos of similar outboards and noticed they didn't have water coming out from that location.
The motor ran well and the exhaust temp was warm but not hot or cold. And my overheat alarm did not sound so I assumed it was getting the proper amount of water flowing through the motor. However, I believe the water leakage should not be occurring. Any thoughts or is this acceptable.
Thank you
