water leak in oil cooler

'89 454 Mercruiser, closed cooling system, not properly winterized. I've now got a water leak in the oil cooler; the end cap has lost it's seal. Once removing, which has been a challange so far, an is not yet complete, what is the best way to reseal the end cap?

They are only soldered on. As long as they are nice and round and clean, they can be re-soldered.

any rad shop should be able to repair it for you.<br />wouldnt hurt to check the price of a new replacement.
