water leaking behind the starter

i have A 89 OMC 130HP 3.0L which was given to me with no history known. i got the motor running but i have water leaking out from behind the starter where it bolts up to the block. the water thats coming out is a fast and clean as the water coming into the cooling system. i need all the help i can get. thanks

probably the casting plug in the back of the engine was pushed out because the water did not get drained out before it froze this past winter.if you can remove the lower flywheel cover you will probably find a mangled brass casting plug.
