I own a 73 Glastron Inboard 130/270 I was out on the middle of the lake last week when i heard a thumping noise comeing from the engine houseing. I lifted it up and water was pumping out of carbs and the space underneath the engine was filled with water. Water would pump out of the engine on every stroke. I hurried and drove boat back to ramp. The engine ran good and sounded good all the way back to the ramp which makes me think that water is not leaking into the cylinders or around pistons. I checked the oil and there is no water in the oil.I checked the water filter and it was dirty but not abnormaly dirty. I think the problem lies in either the water cooled exhaust manifold, the thermostat, distribution housing or pipes are clogged with dabre or dirt. The water temperature was very high which makes me think that water is not getting to the thermostat or the thermostat is broke. Im hopeing it is just a clogged pipe. The local boat mechanic is charging $60.00 hr and i want to try to find and fix the problem my self. Does anybody have any suggestions as to where the first place I might check. any suggestions would be helpful.

i cant belive that the engine ran with water pumping out of the carb

i am not sure what motor and drive you have from the 130/270

there has to be water in at least 1 cylinder for it to pump out of the carb

easy things to check

you can pull and check you plugs for signs of water

test the compression on each cyl to see if one is bad

remove the valve cover and see if all the valves are opening and closeing

if those things look good the next step would be the manifold and riser

tommays
